PERCEPTION, LANDSCAPE AND ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION: AN INVESTIGATION IN THE COASTAL REGION OF LAGUNA/SC/BRASIL

ABSTRACT:

This work aims to comprehend the environmental perception of traditional fishermen in the coastal region of the city Laguna (Santa Catarina state, Brazil) about the landscape's natural and anthropic elements, in their dimensions of conflict and aesthetic. The research is based on qualitative research of phenomenological nature, and brings fishermen's narratives, their experiences and field observations. Discursive and qualitative textual analysis was integrated to the interpretation, contemplating the observed dimensions. Among the findings, it is highlighted the perception of the landscape as nature and also the place where they live; as the main landscape changes, particularities for the communities studied are pointed, detaching the human density generated by tourism and changes on the lagoon's areas. To incorporate environmental perception knowledge about the landscape can help that Environmental Education actions become more effective and committed to values' formation/reconstruction, changing actions, building knowledge and forming citizens.
