Artistic cultural events and family participation in the early childhood education school

Cultural events that encourage family participation in school are the central idea of this text. These events are ReggioNarra (Reggio Emilia) and Cantiamo (Pistoia). The purpose was to analyze the contribution which these cultural activities for realiza tion of a family participatory practice in everyday school. In this discussion, we used the writings of Fields (1998), Faria (1995), Correa (2006), Paro (2008); Malaguzzi (1971); Ghedini (1993); Catarsi (2008), among other references. Data were collected, at 2009, through interviews, depositions and documentary and bibliographical research. The sample was composed by people involved in the process of performing activities. The cities are located in North Italy. Events are prepared throughout the school community and take place annually in public spaces of the two cities reaching the entire population. Familiar participation in school environment generates citizen participation and genera tes recovery policies proposed by the municipality of childhood.
