Abstract
This study describes the political articulation of the United States Information Agency (USIA) to build a consensus around multinational and associated interests and the following support for the 1964 Business-Military Coup. Using documents the agency produced and material the press published, this research aims to explain the tactics to shape public opinion and influence national politics, showing how the USIA supported the development model that suited multinational and associated interests and the coup, legitimizing the ideas and actions of the group that broke the democratic regime then in force in Brazil.
