The evening sunflower: the remembrance of The merry pilgrims

Abstract

This article aimed to demonstrate that The merry pilgrims: old rural tales (2022), is a superb work which, embroidered with ambivalent threads of reality and imagination, implies the intention of the erudite narrator of remembering the steps of his maturation from the characters experiences, at least to the moment that he manages to speak for himself or to move to his most intimate level. The poetic image of the sunset, meant by Lévi-Strauss (1996)LÉVI-STRAUSS, Claude (1996). Tristes trópicos. Tradução de Rosa Freire D’Aguiar. São Paulo: Companhia das Letras. in the book Sad tropics (Tristes Tropiques, 1935), is a landscape detail which brightens Enivalda’s book since its cover, tale by tale, giving meaning to the gaze of the itinerant and sunflower narrator, who, settled on contemplative bases constructed by cosmic elements, seeks to reach a profound reverie capable of leading to self-knowledge and a sense of being part of a whole. In this sense, it is significant that the narrator moves from the third person to the first person.
