Abstract
The graphic novel today aims to a literary status, but its attributes at the same time favor such possibility and frustate it. In this analysis, I demonstrate how time control by the artists is at the center of this process. Halting the reader, distracting him/her from the narrative, the novel can increase its appeal but will loose in the literary construction. Between us, Brazilians, the graphic novel brings another question to be considered, since it contains traces from its origin of a different cultural context.
