Circulation of Brazilian literature in Spain

Abstract

Based on research carried out at the University of Barcelona, the text deals with the circulation and the possible and desired insertion of Brazilian literature in Spain, highlighting the three types of circulation observed: that which takes place fully in the target language, being available in public library networks, in university teaching and in bookstores for the general public, as is the case of Clarice Lispector, fully inserted into the Spanish literary system; the more commercial one, therefore, punctual and not always reaching a full insertion, as evidenced in the article by the case of Martha Batalha; and finally, that which we can call circulation through the network of affections formed by translators and specific readers, which is the case of contemporary poetry, mainly.
