Abstract
This article is based on the hypothesis that it is possible to recognize in Clarice Lispector’s narratives a kind of soul consciousness, reflecting the belief in multiple worlds or natures hidden under the cloaks of human civilization/domestication. Non-human beings, especially animals, gain in Clarice Lispector’s prose that defines them in their relationship with others and with the world. According to this assumption, the article focuses on analyzing certain passages in Clarice’s short stories, with special attention to the story “Love,” emphasizing the gaze and the reason for the gaze in the narratives and the search for an understanding — psychic — of these relationships between the characters. From the moment they dare to look at the world not only as a so-called human civilizational construct, these characters broaden their perspective on what is difference, delving into the mystery of otherness.
