Abstract
In this paper, I propose a study about the materialities of the marginal poetry. Since the exhibition “Marginal Poetry: word and book”, in 2013, promoted by the IMS, and the FLIP 2016, in which Ana Cristina Cesar was chosen as the honored author, the marginal poetry has returned to the spotlights of the Brazilian cultural scene. The title of the IMS exhibition rightly suggests the organic relation between the marginal poem and its materiality. However, this is not reflected in the critical fortune of this poetry, which perhaps results from the fact that field studies on the materialities of literature are still incipient in Brazil. Thus, this paper aims to accomplish a critical review of the marginal poetry from the perspective of the materialities of literature. Thereby it is intended both to undo commonplaces of criticism and to promote a necessary re-reading of this poetry, since although its mode of production based on self-publishing is always suggested, its implications have not yet been properly recognized.
