An analysis of literature consumption and appropriation among students

Abstract

This paper analyzes and problematizes the empirical data collected from a group of 667 first-year university students for a study on reading. The students answered questionnaires and were interviewed about the ways in which they came into contact with the literary works indicated for the entrance exam. Significant fragmentation and alternation between content media was observed. Based on this data, we hypothesize that the students' contact with the literary text, whether in a normative way or for enjoyment purposes, crosses platforms in highly personalized paths of appropriation among a set of solutions and alternatives for which the metaphor of the cloud is employed.
