Abstract
This article proposes an analysis of the creation process of the National Museum of the Republic in Brasília, a public museum managed by the Department of Culture and Creative Economy of the Federal District, and aspects of the formation of its collection. We are interested in understanding its trajectory of operation, collection, and management, which made it configure itself as a museum of visual arts since its opening in 2006, thus raising considerations about the policies of the cultural area and their relations with social memory.
