Right to Education: analyzing thematic trends in evaluation in academic production

Abstract

The objective of this article is to analyze the thematic trends in relation to the interface of the right to education and evaluation themes in academic production from 1988 to 2020, available in the Capes Theses and Dissertations Catalog. It is a study that is part of a broader research that intends to inventory the scientific production in Brazil in doctoral theses, master’s dissertations and articles, constituting a State of the Art on the right to Education in the country. For this article, 31 academic works were selected, being 23 master’s dissertations and 8 doctoral theses, on the website of the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (Capes) with the use of the descriptors “right to Education” AND “evaluation”; no filters were used. The selected titles were examined and grouped, according to the problem, into four thematic trends: educational program/policy (14); quality (11); assessment concepts/practices (3) and inclusion/exclusion processes (3). In conclusion, the relevance of investigations that understand policies and practices aimed at supporting and enhancing the guarantee and realization of the right to Education is highlighted.
