This paper presents a series of reflections on the concept of mediation and mediators in Museums of Science and Technology and Science Centers, with the objective of introducing theoretical elements that might contribute to a broader and deeper debate on these concepts in field of Science Education and Science Communication. These reflections lead us to a better understanding so that we can present new aspects for discussing about how these concepts end up dominating specific fields and communities. We also highlight some aspects that we consider relevant as proposals for further discussions among educators in museums in order to reevaluate their educational practices and learning processes in such spaces.
