EDUCATIONAL MEDIATION IN A NON-FORMAL EDUCATION ACTIVITY: AN ANALYSIS FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF SALOMON AND PERKINS (1998)

ABSTRACT:

Non-formal education is carried out outside school, in environments where educational actions take place and where the figure of the mediator is important in the learning process. He is responsible, under supervision, for the preparation of activities, participating in the construction of knowledge. However, it is known that in these activities there are obstacles to mediation. Based on the Vygotskian perspective of mediated learning and on the proposal of mediation by Salomon and Perkins, the aim of this work was to analyze aspects of the mediation of monitors of a non-formal activity, how they identify their role and how mediation occurs. For that, the research, of qualitative nature, was carried out in two stages and two instruments of data collection were used: electronic questionnaires and semi-structured interviews. The results show that mediators are far from the idea of mediation and its role, and that they need specific training for their performance
