Abstract
With the bankruptcy of resocializing speech marking modernity, contemporaneity brings up other speeches around the incarceration, producing changes in the legal and penal systems. Accordingly, and based on the theoretical and methodological framework of institutional analysis, this paper makes an analysis of the jobs held by imprisonment in contemporaneity in relation to the target audience of such equipment. Thus, from our insertion in a prison unit of the prison system in Rio Grande do Norte, we performed a participant observation of the routine work of correctional officers. As a result, we present three analyzers to think prison: the hybrids shelter prison, hostel prison and dungeon prison. Such analyzers reveal that the prison in contemporaneity acquires a hybrid character of equipment, to articulate the functions of punishment, pretrial detention and managing poverty, challenge any rehabilitative intent.
