The 6alpha,7beta-Di-hydroxyvouacapan-17beta-oic acid was isolated from the seeds of Pterodon polygalaeflorus Benth (Leguminosae) and, then, ten new amide derivatives of this acid were prepared. The effects of these amides on the radicle growth of Sorghum bicolor L. and Cucumis sativus L. were evaluated. Nine compounds, at a concentration of 100 ppm, showed an inhibitory effect (5-21%) on the radicle growth of the C. sativus L.. The N-(t-butyl)-6alpha,7beta-di-hydroxyvouacapan-17beta-amide showed the most effective inhibitory action (33%) for S. bicolor L.. Only the N-benzil-6alpha,7beta-di-hydroxyvouacapan-17beta-amide showed stimulatory growth effect both for C. sativus L. and S. bicolor L. of 16% and 34% respectively.
