School failure in the elementary school: analysis of the index difference in the initial and final years

ABSTRACT

This article presents the analysis of school failure rates, with special attention to the characterization of differences between the initial and final years of elementary school. The focus was on the examination of educational statistics, between 2009 and 2018, of the municipality of Ivoti, located in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. Thus, it was possible to observe that the disapproval in the final years is always higher than in the initial years, with the sixth year being the one with the highest indices. In addition, it was possible to notice that, after the institution of the literacy cycle, the disapproval in the 3rd year did not become expressively higher than that was observed until then in the 2nd year of elementary school.
