ABSTRACT
The discussion about the constitution and teacher training in Brazil is permeated by several and often contrary epistemic positions. By electing Professor Acacia Zeneida Kuenzer as our interlocutor, we clearly chose to discuss from the categories of historical materialism. In the sharing of her life history, the concrete and contradictory conditions through which she becomes a teacher are evidenced and the educational principle of work manifests itself unequivocally. It is also evidenced the reason for the importance of the categories of historical materialism, both of content and method.
