From the history of school cultures to the history of children’s cultures in the paraná in the Nineteenth century: A first approach by means of egodocuments

ABSTRACT

In a first approach to the theme, this paper is aimed at investigating the relations between the history of school cultures and the history of children’s cultures in the nineteenth century in the Paraná based on egodocuments. In addition to delimiting the documentary corpus used in this study, the first part presents a discussion on how, in theoretical and methodological terms, egodocuments may be used as sources for the history of school cultures and children’s cultures in the nineteenth century. The second part presents an analysis of two aspects of children’s cultures in dialogue with school cultures: the search for peer and teacher recognition in the schooling process as well as the invention of practices and sociability spaces in playful ways, inspired by practices and sociability spaces of adulthood through “make-believe clubs” formed by school children, with their own rules and social values. Lastly, considerations are made by way of conclusion.
