Cultural diversity, education and democracy: the stages in Latin American indiginous education

This article tries to reconstruct, the long way road of the indiginous education towards the construction of an alternative project that recognizes and expresses the cultures whom it represents. This argument implicates a topic that goes far beyond the simple contents, themes or languages in which to teach, that is to say, how, when or what to teach; it means a discussion that goes from the understanding of the cultures in contact or in conflict meaning, the intercultural communication or dialog, the sense of the languages up to the construction of the identity in the social diversity and in a world where the local melts into the global giving new meanings to the old ways of the social, economic and political construction.
