Teacher education in the United States: the conservative alliance and its conflicts on the current educational reform in the U.S.

The goal of this article is to discuss the current educational reform in the United States and the implementation of changes on teacher education at this country, based upon Michael Apple's and Kenneth Zeichner's analyses. The core idea defended by this paper is that conservative alliances, as they have been portrayed by Apple, and which have been created during this educational reform in the US, are harder to be reproduced for the implementation of changes on its teacher education programs, as Zeichner has pointed out. This paper does not intend to present a sort of comparative education analysis with the current Brazilian educational and teacher education reforms. However, the reader of this paper might realize a set of similarities - and differences as well - between these two countries in terms of their educational and teacher education reforms.
