STUDENTS WITH LOW FUNCTIONAL PERFORMANCE: TEACHERS’ PERCEPTION OF THEIR PEDAGOGICAL PRACTICE

ABSTRACT

The main objective of this study is to investigate the perception that secondary school teachers have about students with low functional performance and everything related to the teaching and learning process carried out with them. The study has been carried out in the Region of Murcia. It is a quantitative and descriptive study. Through a Likert scale questionnaire, 89 teachers from public and subsidised secondary schools were questioned about the characteristics of their teaching practice with this group. The results indicate that with regard to the way they manage in practice, the majority of teachers show certain difficulties in providing an educational response to students with low functional performance despite their efforts and intentions to ensure that all students participate in the classroom.
