Implications of the school direct funding program on the public school management

This paper presents some implications of the alterations entailed by the implementation of the School Direct Funding Program on public school management. It is the result of an investigation into the consequences of this Program through case studies in five States São Paulo, Rio Grande do Sul, Mato Grosso do Sul, Pará and Piauí. These were selected to show, albeit relatively, the different situations generated by the implementation of this Program in such diversified educational scenery. Although the induction to create private law entities to receive and manage these decentralized resources is being paid a special attention, these results are organized according to the three aspects that constitute the educational management: the democratization of school management, the relationship between public and private spheres, and the relationship between centralization and decentralization.
