The article analyses the most influential paradigms in the history of the modern thought, mainly the Hegelian and Marxist doctrines on society and ethics. Its aim at raising a few doubts on the paradigm concept itself in the ways it is accepted and widespread in the field of the so- called "social sciences" in Brazil.
