This paper presents the historical and social context in which Vygotsky wrote his "Psychology of Art". It's recognized in such work the origins of vigotskian thought over which the Cultural-Historical Theory of high mental functions has been constructed. It exposes his `Esthetic Reaction Theory and Catarsis' concept.
