Global ethics as glokal ethics

Under the title "glokal ethics" this paper discusses a dialectical-ethical relationship reconstructing both the differences between local ethics on the background of universal validity claims and, conversely, these validity claims through the recognition of local ethics. The moral foundation structures and the implications of neo-racism, the basic human rights, the debate on ethical pluralism, and the intercultural education all make it clear that global ethics as glokal ethics evokes a reciprocal and symmetrical recognition ethics, which stresses the regulative principles of self-respect and justice. Based on such an ethics, (moral) education becomes a permanent decentering which - due to the reciprocal local-global relationship - makes moral developments possible, on the one hand, and demands other ethics be recognized as part of one's own ethics, on the other.
