This literature review analyzed Saussurian semiology, 1916, in the linguistics area, showing its principal components, constitutive aspects and the operations of semiology l search. The following points were discussed: 1) Saussure, semiology as a social psychology, sign cut and structural linguistics; 2) The difference between semiology and linguistics in Saussurian approach; 3) Lévi-Strauss, structural anthropology and the myths as a "language", "parole", and universal system of signs; 4) Saussurian semantics; and 5) Saussurian etymology. As a conclusion, this question was asked: Could the semiological method by Saussure be the basis and justification for literature review as a search method in psychoanalysis?
