ABSTRACT
The present research objectified to study eight forest species from Rio de Janeiro State for energetics finilitiy. The analyzed forest species were: Abricó de Macaco (Couroupita guianensis Aubl.), Andiroba (Carapa guianensis Aubl.), Angico-Branco (Piptadenia peregrina (L.) Benth), Aroeira (Astronium urundeuva (Fr. Allem.) Engl.), Flamboyant (Delonix regia Ras.), Guapuruvu (Schizolobium parahybum (Vell.) Blake), Pau-Jacaré (Piptadenia gonoacantha (Mart.) Macbr.) e Pau-Mulato (Calycophyllum sprussiana Benth.). For comparison effect was used the Eucalyptus grandis W. Hill ex Maiden. Physical and chemical aspects of charcoal and others products of dry distillation those forest species were quantified and analyzed. After the analyses, it was observed that eight species can be used with energy purposes, even so, the best ones were Aroeira (Astronium urundeuva (Fr. Allem.) Engl.), Pau-Jacaré (Piptadenia gonoacantha (Mart.) Macbr.) and Angico-Branco (Piptadenia peregrina (L.) Benth.).
