ABSTRACT
The study was made in the Mario Xavier National Fórest, of Seropedica, in the state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In this part of original ‘Mata Atlántica’, the natural regeneration process has occurred an ecological gallery, where was made a forest inventory, and were established 40 plots of 10 m x 10 m. The results of the census showed that Anadenanthera colubrina (VELL.) Brenan was the species with better results in the analyzed variables. The Erythroxylum pulchrum A. St-Hill was the species with higher frequency of occurrence. The ecological gallery has presented a diversity quotient of only 3,88%.
