RESPONSE OF INGA MARGINATA TO NITROGEN, PHOSPORUS AND INOCULLATION WITH RHIZOBIUM

ABSTRACT

The response of Inga marginata (native woody species from the Atlantic Forest) to nitrogen and phosphorus adittion was evaluated. The experiments were conducted in a green house with pots filled with a mixture of sand and vermiculite. At the first experiment, two sources of nitrogen were applied. The N addition contributed to increase the dry weight of plants. The N applied as NO3- inhibited nodule formation. A combination of 3 levels of P and 2 levels of nitrogen were applied. The results showed that the application of 5 mg of N and 20mg P/kg was the best combination for plant development.
