ABSTRACT
This study was carried out in a cultivated area of 40-year-old Paspalum notatum Flugge cv. Batatais located in Fluminense Lowland, Rio de Janeiro State, Southeast of Brazil, to evaluate seasonal plant production of this species and its effect in microbial biomass and nutrient contents of the soil. During a year, shoot, roots and rhizospheric soil samples were collected seasonally. Seasonal changes of dry matter production and N, P and K accumulation in plant tissues were detected. Alterations in NH4+ and NO3- contents and soil microbial biomass were also observed.
