Abstract
National Parks represent essential protected areas, considering global strategies for biodiversity conservation, as they have international standards and distribution and illustrate, in a specific way, the segregation of nature and society, characteristic in the modern societies. Based on this approach, the present work aims to show and to discuss, in a preliminary overview, the management context of national parks in Brazil, based on the challenges of the Strategic National Plan of Protected Areas.
