MODELING BARK’S VOLUME OF Pinus elliottii, IN THE NORTH COASTAL PLAIN OF SANTA CATARINA

ABSTRACT

The bark volume of the first butt section was used as an independent variable in volumetric models to predict the bark’s volume of Pinus elliottii in the north coastal plain of Santa Catarina. The proposed model was compared with other models including the combined variable (Spurr) and Shumacher and Hall. The equation that used diameter measurements with and without bark in the first butt was selected as the more efficient, based on the fit index and the standard error.
