EFFECT OF THE MODEL SAWING IN THE SAWNWOOD BOARD DIMENSIONS OF Eucalyptus grandis AND Eucalyptus dunnii

ABSTRACT

This paper presents the results of a study carried out to investigate the effect of two sawing models (flat sawn and back sawn) on the dimension of boards produced from logs of two diameter classes of Eucalyptus grandis and Eucalyptus dunnii. Flat sawn boards were wider, a more uniform length and less thicknesses variation. Back sawn boards had a larger variation on width and also a larger number of shorts. It was concluded that under the conditions used in this research the best alternative is to produce flat sawn boards.
