Corymbia citriodora (Hook.) K.D. Hill & L.A.S. Johnson Wood under Physical and Anatomical Aspects as Qualitative Factors

ABSTRACT

The objective of this study was to determine the variation on physical properties (basic density and volumetric shrinkage) and anatomical features of Corymbia citriodora (Hook.) K.D. Hill & L.A.S. Johnson wood and their correlations. Variations between two positions (heartwood and sapwood) and five tree heights (from base to top) were considered. Statistical analysis indicated significant differences between position/height combinations for all physical properties and anatomical features, except for the lumen diameter of fibers. Position was positively correlated to basic density and fiber length. Height was negatively correlated to volumetric shrinkage and fiber length. Fiber width was positively correlated to wall thickness and lumen diameter, while basic density presented negative correlation to wall thickness of fibers.
