ABSTRACT
The risk monitoring is a preventive measure widely used in the programs of prevention to forest fires. This work evaluated the efficiency of some index found in the literature (Nesterov (N), Monte Alegre (FMA) and Monte Alegre chanted (FMA +)), based on meteorological data and the occurrence of forest fires to the north of the Espirito Santo. FMA+ index showed better performance compared to other indexes, mainly for the skill test score (0.16 to 0.20) and percentage of success (51.5 to 56.5%). This index, calculated and made available online, is a measure that is contributing to a better planning and reduction of the cost of combat to forest fires in the region north of the state of the Espirito Santo.
