ABSTRACT
The development of Remote Sensing by use of orbital and suborbital images have caused rapid evolution to the monitoring of forest and agricultural areas.
These studies aimed to stablish subsidies to the developing of a forestry monitoring program at municipal-wide. The selected area for the test was the Ibirubá county, State of Rio Grande do Sul, South of Brazil, for dispose the survey forestry cover in the periods of 1956, 1965 and 1975. In 1985, a survey was made images from LANDSAT 5, channels 3 and 4. In the mentioned periods, studies of the forestry cover spacial distributions were carried, determining positions and dispersions parameters, as well as studies about the frequency distributions per area unit of forestry cover and verification of settlement to theoretical models with the Beta distribution. This method shown efficiency in sampling process for multiple occasions, and it can be used in forestry monitoring programs.
