ABSTRACT
The present work was developed with the purpose of evaluate the quality of wood of Baru (Dipteryx alata Vog.) for pulp and paper Kratt production. After Kraft cooking, under suitable conditions, the pulp and the paper of wood of Baru were evaluate and compared with the same products from wood of Eucalipto (Eucalyptus grandis). The wood of Baru showed considerable inferiority when compared with the wood of Eucalipto, except in relation to the paper traction, in meters, and paper stretchement, in millimeters. As result, the pulp of Baru can be used alone or associate with putp of Eucalipto, to the production of fast printed papers and package papers.
