ABSTRACT
The main proposal of this paper was to study some chemical and physical characteristics of Mimosa caesalpiniaefolia Benthan, in order to analyse its potentialities as an alternative specie to be employed in several processes such as pulp industries and charcoal production. Results seems that this specie is not indicate to pulp production because of its low α-cellulose content (28,40%), high Klason lignin content (32,40%) and high basic density (0,80 g/cm3). The high basic density and high lignin content association seems that charcoal production is a possible application to this specie.
