ABSTRACT
In the present study, the effect of log steaming on Eucalyptus grandis wood drying quality, was evaluated. In order to do it so, half of logs was steamed with temperature of 90ºC during 20 hours. The boards provided of untreated and steamed logs were dry in dry-kiln and were available the dry defects. The results indicate that: the dry defects were smaller significant in the steamed material; boards of smaller logs presented higher reductions in the defects with the steaming.
