Abstract
The anatomical structure and physical and mechanical properties of wood vary significantly between trees of the same specie and between different parts of the same tree. The objectives of this work were to study the basic density, the fiber length and lumen diameter of Tectona grandis L., coming from two distinct places, with ages of 12 and 5 years. The samples were obtained from wood disks, removed of segments from pith to bark. Significant differences were observed in the radial variation of fiber length among the two provenances and ages analyzed.
