GROWTH, MORTALITY AND SURVIVAL RATIO OF Urbanus acawoios Williams (1926) (LEP.: HESPERIIDAE)

ABSTRACT

Urbanus acawoios (Lep., Hesperiidae) is a potent defoliator of Clitoria fairchildiana, “sombreiro” (Leguminosae) and its growth study, mortality and survival from others food sources of plants, it will afford subsidies for the knowledge of its populacional dynamic. The objective of this work was to determine the growth ratio, being evaluating the cephalic capsules from the molt and to calculate the mortality and survival ratio of this species, when fed with bean groups leaves. The caterpillar’s weight of U. acawoios is at least the double to each molt. The medium mortality and survival ratio was 0.13; 0.07; 0.13 and 0.16, for the caterpillars fed with bean leaves groups “cavalo”, “manteiga”, “vermelho” and “roxo” respectively. The medium growth ratio was 1.619; 1.567; 1.589 and 1.577 respectively.
