ABSTRACT
Euphalerus clitoriaeBurckhardt & Guajará, 2000BURCKHARDT, D., GUAJARÁ, M. Euphalerus clitoriae sp.n., a new psyllid species from Clitoria fairchildiana (Fabaceae, Papilionoidea), and notes on other Euphalerus spp (Hemiptera: Psyl1idae). Revue Suisse de Zoologie, v. 107, n. 2, p. 325-334, 2000. (Hemiptera: Psyllidae) was recently found attacking Clitoria fairchildiana trees. Some aspects of the biology of this insect were investigated, from June to July 2000, under field conditions, in Seropédica, RJ, Brazil. Oviposition period of E. clitoriae reached 12 days, with an average of 17.33 eggs per day and 225.29 eggs per female. Minimum period from egg to adult of E.clitoriae was approximately 25 days. These results show that this species presents potential to reach in a short period of time high populations especially under no limited conditions.
