ABSTRACT
The method of within-between selection was compared with the method of combined selection, using different intensities of selection for Eucalyptus grandis. This was done utilizing an experiment involving families of half-sibs of E. grandis conducted by Celulose Nipo Brasileira S. A. (CENIBRA), in which data on circumference at breast height and plant height have been recorded. The method combined selection was found to be superior to within-between selection due to the larger estimates of expected genetic gain an due to the larger number of families selected for recombination.
