ABSTRACT
Contemporary criticism has expressed the relevance of the “scotopic vision” (or “vision of darkness”) in the Aristotle´s visual theory. He has framed this phenomenon in the perception, or self-perception, of sensitive knowledge, which presupposes granting reflective consciousness to this knowledge. The possibilities in this regard are reduced to one alternative: perceiving darkness is due to external sensitivity (one’s own sight) or due to internal sensitivity (fantasy or common sense), with all possible combinations and distinctions.
