Abstract
The aim of this paper is to address the political demonstrations that took place during the Lollapalooza 2022 music festival against President Jair Bolsonaro and in favor of the then presidential candidate Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, as well as their repercussions on social media. The purpose is to first map the event — understood in terms of Actor-Network Theory as a controversy — by identifying some of its human and non-human actors and describing the materiality of their political performances at the music festival and on social media. After this first analytical move, we discuss the effectiveness of these performances on the political scene and their limits, dialoguing with the perspective of political communication and Internet studies, thus seeking to contribute to the debate around the issues that articulate music, politics and digital platforms today.
