This article studies the repercussion of the animated cartoon character Shrek, considering his fictional nature and the relationship between consumption and the imaginary established by the mass media. With regard to the mirroring process and the centrality of mimetic processes in the formation of social identity, this paper seeks to examine not only the impact of the Shrek character but also the possible effects resulting from the treatment given to this cartoon character, such as hyperconsumption and infantilization.
