The aplication of cognitive maps as strategic planning tool in a concrete situation: the case of pro-deanship of at UFSCar

This article presents the work that was developed in a Pro-Deanship at UFSCar in which the cognitive mapping was used (and it continues being) as a problem solving and structuring tool. In this sense, it presents a brief view of the structure and content of a cognitive map. It also presents some guidelines to make a map, trying to show that activity involves a careful purification process and code of the report of the problematic situation carried out by the individual whose thought is being mapped. The article continues telling us about the contribution of the cognitive mapping for the Pro-Dean to develop, employ and control strategies, in agreement with his own deposition. Regarding the control process, the mechanisms used to transform the final map in a "real calendar", which could be used by the Pro-Dean along the end of its administration, are also presented.
