ABSTRACT
This paper presents a study about the use of anaphoric encapsulation in interviews published in Brazilian magazines. Its main objective is to review the informational status of anaphoric encapsulation beyond the traditional given and new classification. For this, this research uses theoretical assumptions from Text Linguistics and North American Functional Linguistics, thus contributing to a better understanding of the use of some linguistic resources related to the theme of Reference. Methodologically, it adopts a quali-quantitative perspective, taking into account the degree of novelty of the encapsulatings and the relationship between the degree of novelty, the size of the anaphora and their position in the clause.
