This article deals with the construction of the memory and identity of retired workers from narratives of life histories. The main question examined is the perception of these workers regarding the changes they are living through in their old age, in a context of social transformations. In the interpretative analysis of this material, we discuss the relationships among important dimensions of the universe of elderly workers, such as work experience, exchanges among generations, their bodies, and the roles of gender and generation.
