Abstract
This text makes a synthesis of the institutionalization of Islam in Spain and a brief contextualization of the different Muslim communities in the city of Granada.The intention is to present an approximation of the main speeches about the presence of Islam and the different Muslim groups in the public space. Discourses present in the media and in virtual spaces that are generators of public opinion and builders and legitimators of realities. After the terrorist attacks in Europe, the growing Islamophobia is one of the types of cultural racism (Wieviorka, 2006WIEVIORKA, M. La mutación del racismo. Migraciones, n. 19, p. 151-163, 2006.) more patent and latent encouraged by certain sectors of the population. The study focuses mainly on a discursive analysis of the latest emergent debates in the virtual networks related to the presence of Islam in the public spaces of the city of Granada.
